A bespoke outdoor commission for Tigmi, Velatura explores the intersection of material innovation and perceived age, designed to evoke the presence of an object that has existed within its environment over time.

Working from an original design, the piece was realised through a highly specialised casting process developed to introduce variation, depth, and irregularity into the surface. A refined mineral powder was applied within the mould prior to casting, reacting with the ultra high performance concrete to produce subtle veining, tonal shifts, and organic movement throughout the form. The surface was then etched and lightly refined, with voids and fissures carefully backfilled to enhance contrast and create a sense of natural ageing.

The table is defined by a slender twenty four millimetre top with a chamfered edge, resolving into two rectilinear base forms. Each base subtly expands toward the ground, incorporating a recessed plinth detail that echoes the geometry of the top and anchors the piece with quiet stability.

Balancing precision with imperfection, Velatura is a study in permanence, material memory, and the deliberate construction of time.
